I love motivational speeches! Let’s just get that out-of-the-way now.  I tend to view the world through rose-tinted glasses. I don’t have time for negative thinking or negative people. But I like being motivated to think and do beyond my expectations. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy attending Affiliate Summit and listening to the keynote speakers. One year it was Kerri Pollard, the Former President of CJ. Another year it was Chad Hymas, life coach and motivational speaker.

Grow Your Network

Affiliate Summit Keynote Speaker Chad Hymas’s presentation really resonated with me. At the time I was looking for ways to grow my network of mom friends, since I had a little one in diapers. I was also wanting to break into affiliate marketing. His approach has worked for both, and I’ve been a firm believer ever since.

Affiliate Summit Keynote Speaker Chad Hymas

In April of 2001 Chad Hymas was involved in a serious accident that left him a quadriplegic. But, he did not let that fateful event paralyze his dreams. He has since been named one of the 10 most inspirational speakers by the Wall Street Journal,  he’s been inducted into the National Speaker Hall of Fame and he’s a world-class athlete not to mention a husband and father.

For Hymas to be successful he has to rely on complete strangers, which means he’s constantly putting himself out there with the possibility of rejection, which leads right to the message of his keynote.

“You need to recognize your network and expand it in ways that take you out of your comfort zone. Because, you never know if the next person you meet will change your life in ways you could only dream about. “

Tips for attending Affiliate Summit

1. Smile, make eye contact and introduce yourself to total strangers because you can.

2. Don’t turn your nose up and miss the opportunity to make a new contact based on their type of conference pass, that’s discrimination. (oh you’re just a …. )

3. Accept invitations. Maybe a group you just met is going for lunch and invites you. GO! Even if you only know the person who invited you.

4. Bears hibernate – people don’t! It’s really easy to retreat to a corner with your cell phone and scan Facebook, Twitter or Snapchat so you don’t have to interact with anyone. Don’t do it!

5. Follow up with new friends after the conference. Give them a shout out on social media.

Shout outs

I have met so many wonderful and amazing people at Affiliate Summit by going out of my comfort zone and introducing myself to total strangers, who have become friends and colleagues. I can’t thank them enough.
